- Showplace / Sculptural Space
-
- The Greek word
OEATPON means shoplace or place for watching. It thus provides us with
the initial word for the term THEATRE. There is, in short, something to
see.
-
- The place for
watching is a room-sculpture by the sculptor Wasa Marjanov: a red cube
measuring 3 x 3 x 3 meters. Two people made of flesh and
blood – gigantic men – move the walls of the cube so
that seven different settings are created.
-
- The spectators do
not sit but move about according to the way the walls of the space have
been opened and thus both experience and contribute to the
alterations. The spectators move from scene to scene, circle
about the cube and stride across the space.
-
- The cube travels
around the world. And with it the possibilities that slumber inside.
The people who observe it at locales along the route of its journey
enter the space, become part od it and alter it. Through play and
improvisation, individual myths and stories are visibly experienced.
-
- In the traveling
room-sculpture of Wasa Marjanov, Theatron is created. Out of Theatron
there emerges an archive of interdisciplinary and intercultural
confrontation.
